Come celebrate history, culture, and tradition with the Kiwanis Club of Christiansburg at the Kiwanis Wilderness Trail Festival.
2012 marks the 39th anniversary of the Kiwanis Wilderness Trail Festival and the fourth year with the Kiwanis Club of Christiansburg as the managing organization. The festival is always a full day of fun and excitement for the entire family loaded with great local artisans and crafters, Blue Ridge Model A's and Car Cruise In featuring classic cars & street rods, children's area, craft demonstrators, and delicious food from area restaurants and other local vendors.
In 2011, we featured live entertainment on two stages sponsored by Shelor Motor Mile! We featured local acts such as Dancer's Dreams, VA Techniques, Henry's TaeKwon-Do, Mike Petersen's Kempo Karate, Christiansburg High School's Chamber Ensemble, The American Arrow Band, Olan Gardner, MSBC, and Allegheny Strings! Pizza Inn also hosted it's Annual Pizza Eating Contest.
The Kiwanis Club of Christiansburg is proud to be the managing organization for the Wilderness Trail Festival and with feedback from the community and vendors, we are looking forward to improving the festival.
About the Kiwanis Club of Christiansburg
What is Kiwanis?
Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time.
This year, the Kiwanis Club of Christiansburg celebrates 63 years of service to our local community. This includes development of Kiwanis Park and starting the recreation program for Christiansburg. Over the years, Kiwanis raised funds and provided labor support to many youth organizations including: Boy Scouts, Red Cross, school safety patrol, Girls and Boys State, cheerleaders, sandlot programs and Christmas celebrations for local children in need, to name a few. Recently, the Club initiated and is currently supporting the Kiwanis Head Start Back Pack program which provides food for approximately 40 children each week.
Since taking over the Wilderness Trail Festival, the Club has worked with the four primary and elementary schools in Christiansburg to establish a Kiwanis Clothe a Child Program which provides funding for children without ample means to purchase needed clothing. In addition, working with the same four schools, the Club has set up a Kiwanis School Supplies Program to support those children who do not have money to buy their required school supplies.
Membership in Kiwanis
Membership is open to anyone who has an interest in building a better community, serving the youth and citizens of Christiansburg and who are willing to dedicate themselves to helping the club achieve the goals of Kiwanis.
The club meets each Thursday at 6:30 PM at NRV Super Bowl. Give thought in joining with our effort to better our community.
